Motor controllers are included in each hub motor kit purchase unless otherwise specified. Please let us know if you need something other than the standard controller. In addition, individual controllers are also available as spares or replacement parts.

* Notes on motor controllers - Specify controller for front wheel or rear wheel:

• Front wheel controller - Clockwise rotation (CW) when viewing the wires
• Rear wheel controller - Counter-clockwise (CCW) when viewing the wires
• Controllers can be modified to convert from CW to CCW (or vice versa

Two distinct types of controller are available (please specify):

"Immediate Start" controller (0km start)

• motor begins turning as soon as throttle is activated
• provides instant boost of acceleration
• good for starting on hills
• lower range if used frequently for accelerating from a stop

Advantages of the start immediately controller:

• It efficiently uses power when starting by limiting current loading..
• Fun while riding. The e-bike is more fun when you feel the power starting from a stop.
• Better for people with disabilities who cannot pedal at first.

Disadvantages:

• Care must be taken not to turn on the throttle too quickly because it could draw too much current and overload the controller.
• Because the power consumption is higher from a dead stop it uses up the battery resources more quickly.

"Pedal First" Controller (PFC)

• Bike needs to be moving before motor can be activated
• Throttle becomes "active" around 5-9km/h
• Requires pedalling for acceleration
• Unable to help acceleration from a stop if on a hill
• Greater range because pedals are used more frequently for acceleration

Advantages of the "pedal first" controller:

• It does not put a sudden current load on the battery which is good. If it was connected to a fuse it would not blow the fuse since the motor is already moving and the current requirement is lower.
• For safety reasons - a rider on the bicycle might accidentally twist throttle which might cause a sudden movement that could cause an injury
