About EVsolutions

EVsolutions.net provides customers with the safest and most cost efficient technology that MAKES US GO. I’ve been in the EV business since 1992 installing both gasoline and electric “power assist” motor kits on bicycles and tricycles. In the early years I was adding power assist to tricycles and bicycles for my own use and for friends, but in 1995 I began doing it more as a business for physically challenged kids and adults. In the late 90’s I started adding power assist motors to upright and recumbent bikes and trikes for non handicapped adults and seniors….still am.

The e-motor power assist industry itself was just beginning and I was lucky enough to be in it and watch it evolve. In the early years I had to hunt for compatible parts since no one was making an off the shelf motor kit. I was using primarily Bosch and Scott motors to base the kits around and some of these motor kits looked like an out of control Science Experiment, but as long as they worked my customers were happy.

I stopped installing e-motor kits for the physically challenged in 1999 because of all the silly government regulations that were coming in to restrict the speed and torque of e-motors. The government decided it knew best and imposed 5 mph as the maximum speed and limited motor size so that trikes could no longer climb even small grade hills. It was too frustrating to see government regulations that essentially removed a rider’s ability to be mobile at a speed and power level that was not embarrassing for them. It has to be one of the ultimate insults a government can impose on a citizen who has spent their life driving a car and then tell them they cannot travel faster than 5 mph and that they need to avoid hills from now on.

Power Assist has been more than my Business since 1992, it has been my life.

*With a Power Assist unit we no longer have to limit our daily rides to when the day is warm and sunny, now we can ride every day in all weather conditions including snow and blistering cold.

An e-motor assist kit will permit the rider to climb moderate grade hills that you normally had to stand and mash your pedals to get up. The e-motor allows you to sail around your neighborhood in absolute silence at 20 mph. Allows you to effortlessly pull a trailer with a child or your groceries.

An e-motor lets you ride to work or school and not arrive winded and covered in perspiration. An e-motor lets you take and hold your position in traffic.

Since 1992 I have carried e-motors made by Currie Electro-Drive, Bosch, Scott, ZAP, Bikit, HCF, Thinkar, Sanyo and Crystalyte.

I have found the Crystalyte Motor System to be the best of the lot and it serves the widest cycling audience.

I began selling Crystalyte Motor Kits in 2002. At that time only a couple of Dealers carried Crystalyte Motor kits on the planet. Not only did I love the Crystalyte Motor System, I took over Marketing their products on a global scale. Crystalyte Motor kits are now sold in almost every country and are easily the most well known Direct Drive Hub Motor available. Always nice to pick a winner and let everyone know about it.

Knowing what is good and what belongs in a landfill site is not all that easy.

There are now Electric Hub Motor kits entering North America from hundreds of Asian manufacturers eager to cash in on our new found awareness of Electric Motors for Bikes and Trikes. The majority of these Motor Kits should be avoided, but alas people will be attracted by their insanely low prices and their promised specifications. The vast majority of these Motors are designed for China and countries with a 200 to 250 Watt Limit and a Maximum Speed of 15 mph with a rider who weighs 130 lbs and pedals like he is being chased by a hungry bear.

Too often inexperienced Dealers will regrettably sell you what they believe the Motor System is capable of doing based solely upon what the Asian Manufacturers tell them the Motor System can do.

Buy ONLY from a Dealer who has experience driving what he/she sells always ask questions, it is okay to be suspicious, a Good Dealer will welcome your skepticism. Might drive them a bit nuts if you ask 100 questions, so do some homework on your own first.

Remember in any Business there will be “Snake Oil” Salesmen who promise amazing specifications and are eager to take your money, so be careful.
